1. Canada-CARICOM Faculty Leadership Program

This scholarship to study in Canada provides faculty or international liaison officers/managers from post-secondary institutions located in the CARICOM member and associate member states with short-term exchange opportunities for professional development, graduate study or research at Canadian post-secondary institutions. The Canada-CARICOM scholarship provides CAD 3,200 for faculty members for two to three weeks of course work or research as part of their professional development; CAD 3,200 for international directors, managers or administrators or CAD 11,100 for faculty members for five to six months of study or research at the graduate level.

2. Ontario Graduate Scholarship to Study in Canada

The Ontario Graduate Scholarship Program is awarded to students in graduate studies at the master’s and doctoral levels. This is a merit-based scholarship that is available for students studying at higher educational institutions in Ontario. These Canada scholarships programs to study in Canada are available to graduate students for all disciplines of academic study at participating schools in Ontario. OGS awards $10,000 for 2 consecutive study terms and $15,000 for 3 consecutive study terms.

The Canada-ASEAN Scholarships and Educational Exchanges for Development (SEED) program aims to reduce poverty in the developing countries of ASEAN and to achieve the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

5. Canada’s Emerging Leaders in the Americas Scholarship

The Emerging Leaders in the Americas Program (ELAP) scholarship provide students from Latin America and the Caribbean with short-term exchange opportunities for study or research, at the college, undergraduate, and graduate levels in Canada. The scholarship value is CAD 8,200 for college, undergraduate or graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a minimum of four months or one academic term of study or research or CAD 11,100 for graduate students (Master’s and PhD) for a period of five to six months of study or research.

6. NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships – Doctoral program

The NSERC Postgraduate Scholarships – Doctoral (PGS D) program provides financial support to high-calibre scholars who are engaged in an eligible doctoral program (see Eligibility criteria for students and fellows) in the natural sciences or engineering. This support allows these scholars to fully concentrate on their studies and seek out the best research mentors in their chosen fields. Selected candidates for this scholarship will receive $21,000 per year for three years.

7. Canada Graduate Scholarships – Master’s program

The objective of the Canada Graduate Scholarships – Master’s (CGS M) program is to help develop research skills and assist in the training of highly qualified personnel by supporting students who demonstrate a high standard of achievement in undergraduate and early graduate studies. $17,500 will be awarded to winners for a period of 12 months.

8. NSERC Indigenous Student Ambassadors Program

The NSERC Indigenous Student Ambassadors program aims to engage Aboriginal students and fellows in promoting interest and participation in the natural sciences and engineering by visiting Canada’s Aboriginal communities and schools and sharing their recherche and education experiences or participating in science promotion events and activities. The Ambassadors program award (up to a maximum of $5,000) will cover costs associated with the proposed science and engineering promotion activity and Aboriginal community visit.

9. Canada Graduate Scholarships – Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplements

The Canada Graduate Scholarships – Michael Smith Foreign Study Supplements (CGS-MSFSS) are available to Canadian citizens, permanent residents or Protected Persons under subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, who hold a Canada Graduate Scholarship (CGS) at the master’s or doctoral level, or a Vanier CGS at the doctoral level. The scholarship provides up to $6,000 for a period of research study abroad.

10. Quebec Merit Scholarship Program for Foreign Students (PBEEE)

These scholarships are fully funded and intended for foreign students or researchers from all research sectors (health, humanities and social sciences, arts and letters, natural sciences, and engineering) preselected by a Québec university, Synchronex (a CCTT), the China Scholarship Council (CSC), the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico (SRE) or the National Council on Science and Technology of Mexico (CONACYT) who wish to begin or continue studies or research activities in Québec.

11. Canada Graduate Scholarships – Doctoral program

The Canada Graduate Scholarships – Doctoral (CGS D) program is a federal program of scholarships awarded through national competitions by the granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR), the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). Selected candidate will receive $35,000 per year for 36 months.

The Human Frontier Science Program (HFSP) is an international program of recherche support, funding leading-edge research on the complex mechanisms of living organisms. Research is funded at all levels of biological complexity from biomolecules to the interactions between organisms, crossing disciplinary boundaries, and embracing risk. Canada, through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) and the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), has committed over $6.5M for the next three years to support HFSP.

14. Canadian Government Banting Fellowships

The Fellowship provides funding to the very best postdoctoral applicants, both nationally and internationally, who will positively contribute to the country’s economic, social and research-based growth. The scholarship provides $70,000 (taxable) per year. 15. Dick Martin Scholarship Award

Awarded annually, this $3,000 national scholarship is available to any student enrolled, either full-time or part-time, in an occupational health and safety related course or program leading to an occupational health and safety certificate, diploma or degree at an accredited college or university in Canada. Programs include mine safety, occupational or industrial health and safety, industrial hygiene, safety management or other related safety degree program.

16. Louise McKinney Post-Secondary Scholarship

This scholarship program has been established in honor of Louise McKinney and aims to recognize and reward students for their academic achievements and encourage them to continue in their undergraduate or professional program of study. The scholarship is awarded to undergraduate and professional programs students in educational institutions in the province of Alberta. Winners of this scholarship will receive an award of $2,500.

17. Undergraduate Student Research Awards

Applications for Undergraduate Student Research Awards (USRA) must be completed and submitted to the Canadian institution where you wish to hold an award through NSERC’s online system. Selected applications are submitted to NSERC by institutions. No USRA applications may be submitted directly to NSERC. This scholarship provides up to $6,000 plus host institution contribution.

18. Ingenium-NSERC STEAM Horizon awards

The objective of the Ingenium-NSERC STEAM Horizon awards is to promote the fields of science, technology, engineering, art and design, and mathematics (STEAM) to the next generation of scientists and engineers. The award will be given to individuals who clearly demonstrate inspiring achievements in these fields by applying their passion to have an impact on their community. This scholarship provides up to $25,000 for one year, non-renewable.
