The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences have different scholarships that provides different benefit for selected applicants as shown below:
I. The Chinese Government Scholarship (CGS)
- A fee waiver for tuition and basic textbooks;

III. The Beijing Government Scholarship (BGS)
- Exempt from tuition costs for the specific academic year;
- The GSCAAS supervisor will provide research assistant fellowship;
- Accommodation fee of on-campus dormitory and
- Comprehensive Medical Insurance.
IV. GSCAAS-OWSD fellowship for female scientists
- A monthly allowance to cover basic living expenses such as accommodation and meals while in the host country;
- A special allowance to attend international conferences during the period of the fellowship;
- The opportunity to attend regional science communications workshops, on a competitive basis;
- A return ticket from the home country to the host institute for the agreed research period;
- Annual medical insurance contribution (USD 200/year), Visa expenses;
- Study fees (including tuition and registration fees) in agreement with the chosen host institute.

Scholarships at The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences Eligibility
To apply for Scholarships at The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, a candidate must meet the following criteria:
- Non-Chinese citizens;
- Healthy and willing to abide by the Chinese laws and decrees;
- Master’s programs: holds a Bachelor’s degree and is under the age of 35;
- Doctoral programs: holds a Master’s degree and is under the age of 40;
- Visiting Scholar: has at least two years of undergraduate studies and is under the age of 35;
- Senior Visiting Scholar: holds a Master’s or higher degree, or has an academic title of associate professor or higher, and is under the age of 40.
- English and/or Chinese proficiency.

How to Apply for Scholarships at the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences Eligibility
Those who would like to apply for the Scholarships at The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences need to follow the instructions below. Candidates are also required to upload necessary documents to the online system. Due to COVID-19, applicants are no longer required to send application materials to the university by post.
A. Fill the CAAS application Form
Fill the application Form for Study in CAAS through the online platform which is also available on the official page. For Part II of the Form, please leave it blank, this part is to be filled in by the applicant’s supervisor and the host institution. Please choose the major and host supervisor cautiously and submit your application after a thorough discussion with the expected supervisor.
B. Fill the CSC Application Form (Only for Chinese Government Scholarship applicants)
Fill in the CSC Application Form. Select the appropriate program category and type in the Agency No. Please download the completed form and upload it as an attachment in the “Add supporting documents” section of the GSCAAS online application system.
Required Documents
- Photocopy of passport (with at least 2 years’ validity) – the personal information page;
- Highest diploma (notarized photocopy);
- Academic transcripts of the most advanced studies (notarized photocopy);
- Two reference letters from two Professors or experts with equal titles in related fields;
- CV and research proposal (no less than 500 words);
- Language Proficiency Requirements: English Language Certificate; Or score reports of TOEFL, IELTS, CEFR, etc.; Or score reports of the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK);
- Photocopies of degree thesis abstract and abstracts of maximum of 5 representative academic papers;
- No Objection Certificate from employer for employed candidates;
- Foreigner Physical Examination Form;
- Acceptance letter (optional). Applicants with acceptance letter from CAAS professors are preferred.
- Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application.
