Applications are being received for the HAN scholarships to study in the Netherlands. The program is offered by HAN University in collaboration with the Dutch Ministry of Education, Culture, and Science. Candidates from a country outside the EU/EEA enrolling in a bachelor’s or master’s degree at HAN may qualify for a HAN scholarship and potentially get it. Individuals who have made outstanding achievements in their education and personal development are good candidates for HAN scholarships.

While students cannot combine HAN scholarships, they can combine a HAN scholarship with a scholarship from another organization. The scholarship is paid in 2 terms: March and September. Keep in mind that tuition fees are due in the fall semester. You can only receive the payment if you’re enrolled as a HAN student and you have a Dutch bank account in your name.

Founded in 1996, the HAN University of Applied Sciences (HAN) is a knowledge institute for higher education that is located in the Dutch province of Gelderland, Netherlands. HAN is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands and has campuses in Arnhem and Nijmegen and a research center in Doetinchem. The university offers bachelor’s and master’s degree programs to over 36,000 students. HAN is a member of various national and international networks. These include professional networks relating to particular schools and research groups. Higher education networks relating to particular areas of study and broader, educational and professional networks.

HAN scholarships in Netherlands Benefits

HAN scholarships will provide the following benefits to selected candidates depending on the type of scholarship they won:

  1. HAN Holland : up to €12,500 (for bachelor’s students) and up to €5,000 (for master’s students);
  2. Honors : up to €7,500 (for bachelor’s students) and up to €2,500 (for master’s students);

HAN Holland Scholarship

For this scholarship, you receive €2,500 in the 1st semester and €2,500 in the 2nd semester. After that (for bachelor’s students only) you can receive €2,500 per year for the following 3 years of study. To maintain this, you must continue earning the required 45 credits each year.

Honors Scholarship

The Honors Scholarship is different. You don’t need to apply for it. The academic board of the study program selects students with outstanding academic results in their 1st year. The payment starts with €2,500 in the 2nd year. After that (for bachelor’s students only) you can receive €2,500 each following year of study. To get this, you need to earn the required 45 credits each year.

HAN scholarships in Netherlands Eligibility

To apply for HAN scholarships, candidates must meet the requirements. This means you have:

  • not previously been enrolled in a degree at a university or University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands;
  • been accepted into a full-time English-taught degree program at HAN;
  • an IELTS score of at least 6.5, a TOEFL iBT score of at least 90 or a Cambridge Certificate (CAE or CPE);
  • are a national of a country outside the EU/EEA.

Note : An applicant must be a Non-EU/EEA student who didn’t get a scholarship in the 1st year to receive the Honors scholarship.

How to Apply for HAN scholarships?

To apply for HAN scholarships to study on the european continent, greatyop.com team advises you to follow the steps below:

1. Complete your enrollment

Contact the university and complete your enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program before 1 April (Starting degree in September), 1 October (Starting degree in February). Do you meet the minimum requirements? Then you’ll receive an email inviting you to apply for a scholarship. Please note that all degrees start in September and only a few are offered in February.

2. Prepare your application

The next step is to prepare the following 3 items:

  1. A motivation letter. Here, explain why you’ll be a successful HAN student
  2. A short video of yourself. Max. 3 minutes. Address the following:
    • Describe yourself and the things you excel in
    • What would your former teachers or your friends tell us about you?
    • Tell them about your chosen course of study at HAN
    • Imagine you’re working on a team. Based on your personality and/or experience, what role would you have and why?
    • What are your career ambitions? What and where do you think you’ll be 10 years from now (professionally speaking)?
  3. Your Curriculum Vitae (CV)

3. Submit your application

Follow the link in the email invitation. Fill out the application. Submit it digitally with the 3 items you prepared in step 2. Submit before 1 May, 12 pm CST (if you’re Starting in September) or 19 October, 12 pm CST (If you’re Starting in February).

4. Receive notification

You’ll receive an email with notification of the award on June 1 for the program Starting in September and 3 November for the program starting in February

5. Accept the scholarship

Send written acceptance of the scholarship. When? By the date stated in your award notification letter.

The last day to apply for enrollment in a bachelor or master’s degree program is for September 2025 intake. Candidates will have till to submit the scholarship application.
