Candidates from all corners of the world are invited to apply for the 2021-2022 Chinese Government Scholarship at BIT. The program aims to recruit outstanding international students for research or studies at the Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT). BIT is currently home to more than 2,400 international students from 147 different countries.

The Chinese Government Scholarships at Beijing Institute of Technology is open for students from all over the world to study at undergraduate, master and PhD degree programs, or conduct research. Undergraduate students cannot apply through the “Chinese Government Scholarship – University Program” (only for graduate studies). However, they can apply through the “Chinese Government Scholarship – Bilateral Program”. For example, they can apply through the EU Program, the ministry of education of their countries, Chinese embassies etc.

Chinese Government Scholarship at BIT Benefits

The Chinese Government Scholarship at BIT will offer selected candidates the following Benefits:

Chinese Government Scholarship at BIT Eligibility

In order to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship at BIT, applicants must meet the following criteria.

  • be a non-Chinese citizens and in good health;
  • not registered students in a Chinese university at the time of application;
  • not applying for language programs.
  • have graduated from a Chinese university for more than one year ( only for those who have studied in China);
  • Master programs applicants should be under the age of 35 and hold a bachelor’s degree;
  • PhD programs applicants should be under the age of 40 and hold a master’s degree

Application instructions

Interested applicants who would like to apply for this scholarship program to study in Asia, must follow steps below:

Step 1: CSC online registration

Create an account at and choose program Type B. The Agency No. of BIT is 10007. Please read the Designated Chinese universities with their agency number and the CSC Scholarship Application Steps and Required Documents for more details. Download the CSC application form after registration and take note of the CSC serial number.

Step 2: BIT online registration

Create an account at, upload the required documents and submit your application to get your BIT application number. List of documents to upload in PDF format:

  1. CSC application form;
  2. Notarized highest degree certificate (English version);
  3. Notarized transcripts of the highest degree;
  4. BIT Advisor Recommendation Form (You may upload a piece of blank paper instead at the stage of initial application);
  5. Curriculum Vitae;
  6. Personal Statement indicating your past academic background and preferred research area in BIT with a minimum of 1000 words;
  7. Two recommendation letters by home university professors;
  8. Certificate of work/internship (MBA program applicants);
  9. Front page of the valid passport;
  10. Physical Examination Record for Foreigner;
  11. TOEFL/IELTS transcript for English-taught programs. The minimum score is 85 for TOEFL and 5.5 for IELTS;
  12. HSK 5 (Chinese Proficiency Test) certificate for Chinese-taught programs;
  13. Other supporting materials, such as publications, awards, certificate of employment/internship, and etc.

Step 3: Initial Review Application Fee

If you pass the initial review, you will receive an email. Then it is time for you to pay the application fee of 600 CNY (non-refundable) directly online and contact BIT advisors for the BIT Advisor Recommendation Form. You should tell the advisor the three numbers, namely the CSC serial number, BIT application number and the number of your Initial Review Notice so that the advisors will complete the recommendation form for you.

Step 4: Further Review

Upload the signed BIT Advisor Recommendation Form and wait for the further review. If you pass the further review, you will be shortlisted for the online video interviews.

Step 5: Online Video Interview

The online video interview will be conducted via the social media app WeChat and all details regarding the interview will be announced through email.

Step 6: Release of Final Result

The final result will be released through email after the CSC’s final approval.
