Applications for the Google Africa Developer Scholarship (GADS) are currently being accepted. The Google Africa Certification Program is developed by Google to provide training to 100,000 Africans in software development. The program is aimed at helping successful candidates become certified on Google’s Android, Web, and Cloud technologies.

For the 5th year, the program is offering an additional 30,000 Android and Google Cloud ​​training opportunities for aspiring and professional developers in Africa. Selected candidates for the program will gain access to carefully chosen and thoughtfully organized training content and hands-on learning experiences. They will also access a pan-African network of peer learning groups and community mentors who will guide them on the learning journey.

The scholarship program will be delivered by Google partners, Pluralsight and Andela, through an intensive learning curriculum designed to prepare motivated learners for entry-level and intermediate roles as software developers.

Program Details

  • Host Institutions: The training will be delivered through Pluralsight and Andela platform. The program is done Online. This means you can take the courses anywhere you have internet access.
  • Fields of Study: Associate Android Developer & Associate Cloud Engineer.You will only be able to pursue one learning track in the program. Switching tracks will not be possible.
  • Number of Awards: 30,000 Android and Google Cloud ​​training opportunities for aspiring and professional developers in Africa.
  • Duration: Not specified.
  • Eligible countries: Open to residents of African countries.

Google Africa Developer Scholarship Benefits

Selected candidates for the Google Africa Certification Program will have the following benefits:

  • Free access to select courses, projects, embedded labs and skill assessments
  • Master in-demand Google developer skills with expert-authored Pluralsight content
  • Develop your skills and be prepared to take the Associate Android Developer Certification exam
  • Receive mentorship support from the GADS program and the Google Developer community.

Google Africa Developer Scholarship Eligibility

In order to participate in this Google scholarship program, you must be at least 18 years of age and be a resident of a country in Africa.
