Candidates are invited to apply for the 2024 Malaysian International Scholarship (MIS). The MIS scholarship is initiated by the Malaysian Government to attract the best brains from around the world to pursue advanced academic studies or research in Malaysia. This scholarship aims to attract, motivate and retain talented human capital from abroad.
Talented international students with excellent academic records and outstanding co-curricular backgrounds are welcome to apply for the Malaysian International Scholarship. The scholarship is tenable at selected prestigious Malaysian universities for eligible candidates willing to study at Master’s and PhD level.
Scholars must undertake full-time study for postgraduate programs at the selected universities and higher education institutes. It is the responsibility of the scholars to confirm their admission to the university. These scholarships are tenable in Malaysian universities and higher education institutes and research must be carried out in Malaysia.

Malaysian International Scholarship Benefits
Winners of this Malaysia Scholarship to study on the Asian continent will have the following benefits while:
- 100% tuition fees; and a
- Monthly living allowance of RM 1,500.00 per month.
Successful applicants are expected to independently arrange their travel to Malaysia (non-financial provisions). Travel expenses will not be provided by the Government of Malaysia. All applicants are highly advised to check the expected living expenses in Malaysia.

Malaysian International Scholarship Eligibility
To apply for this Asia scholarship program, candidates must have the following profile:
- Be citizens from one of the recipient countries of MIS 2024. Please find the full list above.
- Intend to pursue full-time postgraduate studies (Master’s/PhD) in Malaysia OR are currently pursuing full-time postgraduate studies in Malaysian public universities and selected private higher education institutions with a minimum of two (2) semesters remaining before the end of the study period.
- Not more than 40 and 45 years of age for Master and PhD respectively.
- For a Master’s degree, applicants should obtain a minimum of CGPA 3.0 / 2nd Class Upper (Honours) or higher at Bachelor’s Degree level.
- For PhD applicant should obtain a minimum of CGPA 3.0 / excellent results at the Master’s degree level in a similar field of intended PhD study.
- Proof of English Language Proficiency:
- a score of 6.0 or higher in IELTS; or
- a total score of 550 or higher in TOEFL paper-based test (PBT); or
- Has obtained a previous degree(s) with English used as the medium of instruction (evidence is a prerequisite).
- Be able to submit a written research proposal with a minimum of 1,000 words that is relevant to the intended field of study.

- A certified copy of Passport as evidence of nationality (minimum of 6 months validity)
- A certified copy of Academic Transcript
- Record of all the courses taken throughout the degree program must be reflected in the academic transcripts
- Applicants must submit transcripts of their undergraduate studies (Plus Master’s degree transcript for PhD applicants)
- If an applicant’s transcript does not include information on CGPA, they must submit an official document issued by their university describing the grade system, marks, or score percentile. Documents must be certified.
- A certified copy of the English Proficiency test result (IELTS / TOEFL) OR an official letter from the previous institution declaring English as the medium of instruction used for the obtained degree(s)
- Letter of Recommendation from two (2) referees (e.g., lecturer, supervisor or immediate superior, etc.)
- Admission letter from Malaysian university/higher education institute (if applicants are currently undertaking postgraduate studies or if applicants have secured admission to the university)
- Curriculum Vitae; and
- Research Proposal (for Masters by Research and PhD applicants only)
