Applications are now open for the 2022-2023 TOPoliTO Scholarships at the Polytechnic University of Turin. The program has been created by the university to support top students at the Politecnico di Torino and thereby strengthening the University’s ability to attract talented international students to undergraduate and graduate degree courses offered by Politecnico di Torino in Italy.

Scholarships are awarded to international students who meet the application requirements and who will enroll for the first time in the 2022-2023 academic year as a full-time student in a Master of Science program (2nd level cycle – Laurea Magistrale) or a Bachelor of Science program (1st level cycle – Laurea) at the Politecnico di Torino. As TOPoliTO scholarship cannot be combined with any other financial aid provided by any public or private Italian or foreign Institution, in case a beneficiary has been awarded more than one scholarship, he/she must withdraw from the other scholarship.

Founded in 1859, the Polytechnic University of Turin (Politecnico di Torino) is the oldest Italian public technical university. With its main campuses in the city of Turin and satellite campuses in four other cities across the Piedmont region, the Polytechnic University of Turin has eleven departments and several research institutes that host around 35,000 students and 1,800 employees. The university is well known for its expertise in the fields of Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, and Industrial Design, and is consistently ranked among the best universities in Italy and in Europe.

Program Details

  • Host Institution: The Polytechnic University of Turin in Italy.
  • Eligible programs: Master of Science and Bachelor of Science programs at the university.
  • Number of awards: 8 scholarships for Master of Science (5 scholarships for Engineering programs and 3 scholarships for Architecture programs) and 8 scholarships (4 scholarships for Engineering, 1 for Design and Communication, 1 for Territorial, Urban, Environmental and Landscape Planning, and 2 for Architecture) for Bachelor of Science students.
  • Duration: 2 years for master’s programs and 3 years for bachelor’s.
  • Target group: Open to all.

Benefits TOPoliTO Scholarships

Selected candidates for this scholarship to study in Italy will receive the following benefits depending on their level of study:

Bachelor of Science Students : a Gross Amount of the scholarship is 8.000 € per year for the entire duration of the degree program (3 years). The amount after Politecnico taxation for the beneficiary account is 7.373,27 € per year. The scholarship covers the three years of the Bachelor of Science program for the academic years 2022-2023, 2023-2024, and 2024-2025. The awarding of the scholarship (8.000 €) for the second and third years is subject to the achievement of academic merit requirements.

Master of Science Students : a Gross Amount of the scholarship is 8.000 € per year for the 2 years of the program. The gross amount of all charges for the beneficiary is 7.373,27 € per year. The awarding of the scholarship (8.000 €) for the second year is subject to the achievement of academic merit requirements.

Eligibility TOPoliTO Scholarships

The TOPoliTO Scholarships application is open to international students who, in spite of citizenship, meet the following requirements:

For Bachelor’s Students

  1. having a Secondary High School Diploma awarded by schools located outside Italy or
  2. having attended the last year of secondary school in a school outside Italy at the moment they are sitting the admission test or
  3. attending a study program at a university outside Italy at the moment of sitting the admission test, for no more than two years, and, in all cases, when applicable, the minimum entry requirements to access an Italian university must be fulfilled
  4. having been born on or after January 1st, 2001
  5. having passed Politecnico TIL (acronyms TIL-I, TIL-P, TIL-D, TIL-A) in one of the available sessions with a score of at least 70/1007
  6. fulfilling access requirements for admission to Bachelor Degree Programs for academic year 2022-2023.
  7. enrolling at Politecnico di Torino in the 2022/23 academic year for the first time in a Bachelor of Science program in Engineering, Design and Communication, Territorial, Urban, Environmental and Landscape Planning or Architecture and having paid the first tuition fees installment at the time of application.

Incompatibility : You cannot apply for this scholarship if you:

  • have been legally resident or temporary domiciled in Italy/the Republic of San Marino for any period over the last 5 years from the publication of this call with the exception of applicants who attended Italian language and culture courses in an Italian University or private language schools located in Italy;
  • have been enrolled, before the 2022/23 academic year, in any First (Bachelor Degree), Second (Master Degree), Third (PhD) Cycle Degree programs or Specializing Master at an Italian University located abroad or in Italy/the Republic of San Marino;
  • have been enrolled, before the 2022/23 academic year, in a foreign University outside Italy or in Italy/the Republic of San Marino for more than two academic years;
  • are the recipient of any other Italian or foreign scholarships or financial aid at the time of the application or at the time of the publication of the awarding of the scholarships or during TOPoliTO scholarship assignment (A.Ys. 2022/23 and, if maintained, – 2023/24 – 2024/25); NOTE: As TOPoliTO scholarships cannot be combined with any other financial aid provided by any public or private Italian or foreign Institution, in case a beneficiary has been awarded more than one scholarship/aid, he/she must choose which one he/she will keep or decline;
  • are part of any Double or Joint Degree project as an incoming student attending a Bachelor Science program at Politecnico di Torino;
  • have obtained a credit recognition higher than 30 credits at Politecnico di Torino.

For Master’s Students

  1. have a Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent academic qualification in a foreign education system, outside Italy, providing access to a postgraduate degree program. Students with “equivalent academic qualification” are those enrolled in a foreign university for 5 or 6-year – i.e. single cycle degree combined Bachelor’s and Master’s program – who have not graduated yet but meet the minimum requirement of 15 years of global schooling (minimum 3 years at University level) and have acquired at least 180 ECTS credits or equivalent (pre-university or preparatory years are not counted in the achieved credits or years);
  2. hold a valid GRE®General Test obtained not earlier than 5 years before the application deadline indicated in this call; successfully passed in all three sections with the following minimum scores:
    • Verbal Reasoning: 156/170
    • Quantitative Reasoning: 157/170
    • Analytical Writing: 3,5/6
  3. In case the GRE test has been taken more than once, the highest score for each section will be considered. N.B. GRE Graduate Institution Score Report must be uploaded in the PoliTO online application form AND sent to Politecnico di Torino directly by the ETS examination center. Fulfill the access requirements to be admitted to Master Degree Program of Politecnico di Torino and have been admitted to a Master Degree program in the A.Y. 2022/23.

Incompatibility : You cannot apply for this scholarship if you:

  • have been legally resident or temporary domiciled in Italy/Republic of San Marino for any period in the last 5 years from the publication of this call with the exception of applicants who attended Italian language and culture courses or a Foundation course in an Italian University or private language schools located in Italy;
  • have been enrolled, before the 2022/23 academic year, in any First (Bachelor of Science), Second (Master of Science), Third (PhD) Cycle Degree programs or Specializing Master in an Italian university located abroad or in Italy or in a foreign University located in Italy;
  • already hold a foreign Second or Third Cycle Degree in Engineering or Architecture;
  • obtained a First Cycle degree in the frame of Double or Joint Degree projects between Politecnico di Torino – or any other Italian University – and their home institution;
  • are part of any Double or Joint Degree project as an incoming student attending a Master of Science program at Politecnico di Torino;
  • is a recipient of any other Italian or foreign scholarships at the time of the assignment of the scholarship and for the whole duration of the TOPoliTO scholarship.

Bachelor’s Degree Programs

For all the programs, applications can be submitted only by students who

  • passed Politecnico admission test TIL, in one of the available sessions, with a final score of at least 70/100
  • paid the first instalment of tuition fees

In order to apply, you need to tick the option “I wish to apply to TOPoliTO scholarships to enroll to Bachelor of Science programs in the A.Y. 2022/23” under the “Research and Academic scholarships” section of the Online application platform

Master’s Degree Programs

To apply for a master scholarship, you need to log-in in the on-line application form and follow steps below :

  1. flag the option “I wish to apply to TOPoliTO scholarships Master of Science programs A.Y. 2022/23” under the “Research and Academic scholarships” section
  2. complete the fields with GRE General Test score or GRE®General at home under the “GRE” section
  3. upload a copy of the “Examinee Score Report” of GRE General Test or GRE®General at home in the “Attachments” section
  4. submit the application under the “Save and Submit” section of your application.
