The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences scholarship is a highly competitive and prestigious scholarships program that provides funding for students from Africa to pursue advanced studies in mathematical sciences. The program is designed to support the development of a new generation of African leaders in the field of mathematical sciences, and to promote the use of mathematical sciences in addressing key societal challenges on the continent. The AIMS scholarship covers tuition fees, accommodation, and living expenses for the duration of the program, which typically lasts for one to two years. In addition to funding, AIMS scholars also receive mentorship and networking opportunities, which allow them to connect with leading mathematicians and researchers from around the world.

AIMS scholars also have access to cutting-edge research facilities and are exposed to a wide range of mathematical disciplines, from pure mathematics to applied mathematics. The AIMS scholarship is open to students from all African countries who have a strong background in mathematics and a passion for using mathematical sciences to address societal challenges. The program is highly selective and only a small number of scholarships are awarded each year. However, for those who are successful, the AIMS scholarship can be a transformative experience that opens up a world of opportunities for further study and research in mathematical sciences.

Established in 2003, the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) is a pioneering network of centers of excellence for post-graduate education, research, and public engagement in mathematical sciences. The organization has five centers of excellence that provide Masters in Mathematical Sciences, with three centers offering a work-integrated program that connects students with industry. To date, AIMS has educated over 2,400 alumni from 44 different African countries, with 33% of them being women. The organization boasts a strong research arm that includes 90 researchers and six prestigious Chairs across the network. In Cameroon and Rwanda, AIMS has a teacher training program that focuses on gender-responsive education.
