The Eiffel Excellence Scholarship Programme is now accepting applications through Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3. This is a tool developed by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. Its purpose is straightforward: let French universities attract the best foreign students into master’s and doctoral programs. Lyon 3 is involved because it specializes in humanities and social sciences. If that is your field, read on.
The scholarship covers master’s level and doctorate level. For master’s, the money comes as a monthly allowance of €1,200, plus direct coverage of international transport, national transport, insurance, help finding housing, and cultural activities. Master 1 gets up to 24 months. Master 2 gets up to 12 months. For a doctorate, you contact the research division directly. The deadline for master’s applications is 16 November 2026 at 23:59 French time. For the doctorate, it is 1 December 2026 at 23:59 French time. Miss either, and you are out.
This is not a full scholarship in the sense that it covers everything. It does not. But the monthly allowance is decent, the extras are useful, and the door it opens to a French diploma is the real prize. Just remember: getting the Eiffel does not exempt you from the visa process. You still have to meet all the normal requirements for international students.
