Applications are being received for the Ursinus College Scholarships to study in the United States of America. This is not one scholarship. It is a whole package of merit awards, specialty scholarships, and need-based aid. Every admitted first-year student receives at least $35,000 per year. Top scholarships go up to $45,000 per year. Merit scholarships are awarded by the Office of Admission to full-time students on the basis of academic achievement and leadership potential. When you apply to Ursinus as a first-year student, you are automatically considered for merit awards. All domestic applicants are considered for any eligible scholarships.
Students awarded Ursinus College scholarships must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 to be eligible for renewal. Scholarships are awarded at the time of admission and will not be impacted by any changes made after enrollment unless renewal requirements are not met. Ursinus also offers several application-based specialty scholarships, up to the value of full tuition. In the 2025-2026 academic year, Ursinus administered over $80 million in financial aid, nearly $65 million of that in institutional scholarships and grants that do not have to be repaid. Approximately 99 percent of all Ursinus students receive some form of assistance.
Founded in 1869, Ursinus College is a private liberal arts college located in Collegeville, Pennsylvania. As of Fall 2026, the college enrolls approximately 1,300 undergraduate students from 33 states, plus Puerto Rico and D.C., as well as 11 countries. The school awards the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science across more than 60 areas of study, including biology, applied economics, health science, psychology, media and communication studies, and international relations. 99% of the college’s students receive some form of financial assistance.

Merit Scholarships

- Zacharias Honors Scholarship: $45,000/year. The highest recognition for academic achievement and leadership. The average Zacharias Scholar typically has a high school GPA greater than 4.0.
- Gateway Scholarship: $43,000/year. The average Gateway Scholar typically has a high school GPA greater than 3.7.
- Ursinus Scholarship: $40,000/year. The average Ursinus Scholar typically has a high school GPA greater than 3.3.
The GPA bands above are guidelines for merit awards, not rigid cutoffs. The admission committee looks at the whole applicant and reserves the right to adjust merit at their discretion.
Specialty Scholarships
Ursinus offers several unique, special-interest scholarships for first-year applicants. All admitted students are automatically reviewed for merit awards. In addition, there are several special-interest scholarships, three of which are full-tuition.
- Creative and Performing Arts Scholarship: Full-tuition scholarship awarded to a student who demonstrates outstanding artistry.
- Bomberger Leadership Scholarship: Full-tuition scholarship, our highest academic achievement. Zacharias Scholars are invited to apply.
- Creative Writing Scholarship: Full-tuition scholarship awarded each year to a creative writer of outstanding originality and potential. The recipient gets the opportunity to stay in J.D. Salinger’s room. Yes, that J.D. Salinger.
- Abele Scholarships: $10,000 per year. Provides a path towards a college degree for students with academic potential, significant financial need, and a commitment to community. Scholars receive comprehensive support to help them succeed as students and after graduation.
- PERSIST: Scholarships in STEM (S-STEM): Provides up to $15,000 of unmet need to full-time, residential students interested in biology, biochemistry and molecular biology, chemistry, neuroscience, physics, computer science, or pre-engineering. In addition to financial support, S-STEM scholars join a supportive student cohort and benefit from faculty mentoring, academic support, and experiential learning.
Transfer Scholarships
When you apply as a transfer student to Ursinus, you are automatically considered for the following scholarships.
- Transfer Transparency: 60% off tuition guarantee: Students transferring from a two- or four-year accredited institution with an associate degree or 64 equivalent credits are guaranteed to receive financial aid covering at least 60% of their Ursinus tuition.
- Phi Theta Kappa: $43,000/year merit scholarship. Transfer students who are members of the Phi Theta Kappa honor society.
- MCCC: $40,000/year merit scholarship. Montgomery County Community College graduates who achieve a 3.0 cumulative GPA in their Associate’s Degree.
- DCCC: $40,000/year merit scholarship. Delaware County Community College graduates who achieve a 3.0 cumulative GPA in their Associate’s Degree.
- BCCC: Up to $40,000/year merit scholarship. Bucks County Community College graduates.
- Camden County College: Up to $40,000/year merit scholarship. Camden County College graduates.
- Transfer Ursinus Scholarship: Up to $40,000/year. All students are reviewed for eligibility.
Previously admitted to Ursinus? If you were admitted as a first-year student and are now looking to transfer for the spring semester of your first year, Ursinus will honor the merit scholarship you were awarded at the time of your first-year acceptance. If you stand to earn a greater merit scholarship as a transfer student, you will get that instead. Specialty scholarships are excluded, and need-based aid previously awarded is subject to change based on your updated SAI as determined by the FAFSA.

How to Apply for Ursinus College Scholarships
Prospective freshmen can apply for need-based financial aid by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Students can apply for admission prior to completing the FAFSA. If you do not intend to apply for need-based financial aid, you do not need to complete a FAFSA. You only need to apply for admission to the college.
Application deadlines are as follows:
- November 1: Early Action
- December 1: Early Decision 1
- February 1: Early Decision 2 and Regular Decision
Returning students must complete the FAFSA and submit all verification paperwork by April 1 each year.
Financial Aid Office
The Financial Aid Office provides instruction and counseling on applying for need-based financial aid and determining eligibility. It also provides guidance on financing the cost of an Ursinus education via private student and parent loans and payment plans, as well as information relating to bill charges, payments, and federal student loans.
