Applications are now open for the 2024-2025 CSC Scholarship at Shaanxi Normal University for international students. The program has been established by the Ministry of Education in China to support Chinese universities in specific provinces or autonomous regions to enroll outstanding international students for graduate studies in China.

The scholarship only supports international master’s students (for no more than 3 years) and doctoral students (for no more than 4 years) at Shaanxi Normal University. All programs are taught in Chinese language at the exception to four PhD programs (Education, Chemistry, Computer Software and Technology, Materials Science) and three master’s programs (Chinese Philosophy, Cultural Relics Protection Materials, China’s Development and Governance) which are taught in English language.

There is no application fee required by the program and all candidates that are not selected for the Chinese Government Scholarship will automatically be considered for the Shaanxi Normal University International Student Scholarship. The Chinese Government Scholarship students who require one-year Chinese training should be aware that it is required to pass HSK after one-year Chinese training. Those who do not pass HSK can continue to study their major for one year, during this period if they still do not pass the exams, the students must return to their countries as non-degree students.

Funded in 1944, Shaanxi Normal University (SNNU; 山西师范大学 – Shānxī shīfàn dàxué) is a public research university located in Linfen, Shanxi, China. The university has 22 departments and offer a wide range of programs (science, engineering, philosophy, law, economics, literature, history, etc.) at Undergraduate, master’s and PhD degree levels. SNNU hosts around 30,000 students on its three campuses. Shaanxi Normal University is among Chinese universities that have been selected to host Chinese Government Scholarship students.

CSC Scholarship at Shaanxi Normal University Eligibility

In order to apply for this Chinese Government Scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria.

  1. be a non-Chinese citizens and in good health;
  2. master’s degree studies applicants must be under the age of 35 and have a bachelor’s degree;
  3. doctoral degree studies applicants must be under the age of 40 and have a master’s degree;
  4. Language Proficiency
    • Chinese-taught Programs: HSK Level 4;
    • English-taught Programs: IELTS 6.0 or TOEFL 60 (Applicants whose mother tongue and official language is English may be exempted from submitting a Certificate of English Proficiency);
  5. Awards and achievements in scientific researches are favorable.

How to Apply for the CSC Scholarship at Shaanxi Normal University

Interested applicants who would like to apply for the CSC Scholarship to study in Asia, must follow instructions below:

Create an account, fill in and submit the application form via the Shaanxi Normal University online application system.

Create an account on the CSC online system and choose program Type B. The agent No. of Shaanxi Normal University is 10718. Please fill in the online application form and upload the required documents.

Required Documents

  1. A copy of Passport Home Page. If applicant’s current passport expires before September 2024, applicants shall renew it before submitting the application
  2. A notarized highest diploma. Prospective diploma winners shall submit official proof of student status by their current school
  3. Academic transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards). Copies of academic records from first to last semester during the undergraduate, graduate (if any), and doctoral programs (if any) shall be provided. These transcripts shall be issued and sealed by the attending university
  4. Language qualification certificates. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs shall submit valid reports of HSK Level 4 and above in accordance with the corresponding Chinese proficiency requirements. Applicants for English-taught programs shall provide English language proficiency certificates like IELTS or TOFEL report. Applicants who have received a degree from Chinese university or using Chinese as the language of instruction are not required to provide proof of the HSK
  5. A study plan proposal written in Chinese or English with more than 1000 characters or words
  6. Two Recommendation letters (written only in Chinese or English) from professors or associate professors. These letters shall describe the applicant’s objectives of learning in China, comprehensive abilities, and evaluation of future growth, as well as the cooperation between the supervisors or the exchange between universities of both sides
  7. Applicants under the age of 18 shall submit the valid documents of their legal guardians in China
  8. A photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination Form completed in English (the original copy shall be kept by the applicant)
  9. Non-criminal record report issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application
  10. Published scientific research papers or patents, awards and other supporting materials that can reflect applicant’s scientific research ability and comprehensive quality

Note : All documents must be in Chinese or English. Therefore, documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with their notarized Chinese or English translations.
