Applications are open for TDTU scholarships for international graduate students. Ton Duc Thang University offers scholarships based on GPA, reviewed every year. Students from all over the world can apply online through the application system. The university wants talented students who can keep up the academic pace. If that sounds like you, keep reading.

The scholarship program is for foreign applicants who hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree and meet the requirements for admission to master‘s or doctoral programs at TDTU from 2026 onward. The first-year scholarship depends on your GPA. Score a 3.50 or above on a 4.00 scale and you get 100% of first-year tuition covered, plus dormitory accommodation and the full admission fee. Score a 3.00 or above, and you get 50% of tuition, 100% of dormitory, and 50% of the admission fee.

Founded in 1997, Ton Duc Thang University (TDTU) is a public research university with its main campus in District 7, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam. It is one of the top research universities in Vietnam, under the management of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, and named after Tôn Đức Thắng, who served as vice-president and later president of Vietnam.

TDTU Scholarship Benefits

Scholarships are awarded based on GPA. Here is how the first-year awards break down.

First-Year Scholarship for International Graduate Students

100% scholarship: Applicants with a GPA of 3.50 or above on a 4.00 scale or equivalent. Covers 100% of first-year tuition, dormitory accommodation for the first year, and the full admission fee.

50% scholarship: Applicants with a GPA of 3.00 or above on a 4.00 scale or equivalent. Covers 50% of first-year tuition, 100% of the first-year dormitory fee, and 50% of the admission fee.

Scholarship from the Second Year Onward

100% scholarship: For students who meet all conditions, it covers 100% of second- or third-year tuition and dormitory fees. Requirements include a cumulative GPA of 8.00 or above on a 10.00 scale, full compliance with the academic and research plan, no academic warning, no disciplinary action from warning level or higher, and no criminal investigation. For doctoral candidates, research progress and publication of WoS or Scopus-indexed articles are additionally evaluated.

50% scholarship: Covers 50% of second or third-year tuition and 100% of the dormitory fee. Requirements include a cumulative GPA of 7.00 or above on a 10.00 scale, full compliance with the academic and research plan, no academic warning, no disciplinary action, and no criminal investigation. Again, doctoral candidates face additional research and publication checks.

Living Allowance Support

International graduate students who meet the eligibility requirements for the graduate scholarship of the corresponding academic year can apply for a living allowance. Recipients must register to support assigned tasks at the Faculty or Institute for a minimum of 20 hours per week. They must not be subject to disciplinary action from warning level or higher or under criminal investigation. There are five awards in 2026. The support level is VND 3,500,000 per month for each recipient.

Note : The scholarship does not cover tuition fees for failed courses, repeated courses for grade improvement, courses exempted through credit recognition and transfer, or courses exceeding the minimum credit requirements of the academic program. The scholarship is disbursed every six months based on academic performance. Scholarship recipients are accommodated in the designated international student dormitory. Any exceptional cases are reviewed and decided by the President based on recommendations from the Department of Graduate Studies and relevant departments.

  11. Economic Law (English and Vietnamese)
  12. Electrical Engineering (English and Vietnamese)
  13. Environmental Engineering (English and Vietnamese)
  14. Finance and Banking (English and Vietnamese)
  15. Sociology (English and Vietnamese)
  16. Sport Management (English and Vietnamese)

Applicants are required to have a Vietnamese language proficiency certificate at the B2 level in order to apply for master’s programs taught in Vietnamese. Applicants who graduated with a degree in a field not directly related to the program they are applying for must have work experience in a related field as specified in Appendix 2.

TDTU Scholarship Eligibility

To benefit from the first-year scholarship, applicants must hold a bachelor’s or master’s degree and meet the requirements for admission and enrollment in master’s or doctoral programs at TDTU from 2026 onward. The scholarship is awarded based on GPA as detailed above. The scholarship does not cover failed courses, repeated courses, or credits beyond the minimum requirements. Recipients must maintain their academic performance. The scholarship is reviewed every year.

How to Apply for TDTU Scholarships

Interested applicants must submit a Scholarship Application Form according to the university’s template via the online submission system. For second-year scholarships and living allowance support, applications must be submitted in accordance with the timeline and instructions announced by the Department of Graduate Studies.

Required Documents for Master’s Applicants

Required Documents for Doctoral Applicants

  1. Application Form (online submission).
  2. Curriculum Vitae (based on TDTU’s format).
  3. Original copy of bachelor transcript in the relevant major.
  4. Original copy of bachelor’s certificate in the relevant major.
  5. Original copy of master transcript in relevant major. Applicants with a very good bachelor’s degree do not need to submit this.
  6. Original copy of master’s certificate in the relevant major. Applicants with a very good bachelor’s degree do not need to submit this.
  7. Copy of research publications (all files of published papers).
  8. Copy of Statement of Purpose at Doctoral Program level (based on TDTU’s format).
  9. English Language Proficiency. One of the following: TOEFL iBT from 46 and above; IELTS from 5.5 and above; Cambridge Assessment English B2 First/B2 Business Vantage/Linguaskill Score from 160 and above; Aptis ESOL General B2 Score from 153 and above; Aptis ESOL Advanced B2 Score from 126 and above; VSTEP Level 4 and above; Pearson English International Certificate (PEIC) Level 3; PTE Academic 59-75. English certificates must be valid for two years from your test date up to the application date.
  10. Proof of a bachelor’s or master’s program taught in English language.
  11. One Letter of Recommendation assessing the applicant’s professional qualities, academic competence, and research capability, provided by at least one scientist holding the title of Professor or Associate Professor, or a Doctor of Science or Ph.D. degree in a relevant field with expertise related to the applicant’s intended research area (original copy required).
  12. Copy of Passport.
  13. Photograph (3×4 cm).
  14. Criminal record within the last 6 months.
  15. Financial Proof (bank-issued document showing that the applicant is the account holder with a balance of at least USD 2,500, valid until the application submission deadline).
  16. Health check report from official clinic or hospital within the last 12 months.
  17. Vietnamese language proficiency certificate at minimum Level 4/6 under the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners (for doctoral programs taught in Vietnamese).
  18. Certificate of professional work experience for lecturers or researchers at educational institutions or science and technology organizations.

Admission Calendar

  • Application submission period: From the date of announcement to November 6, 2026 via online submission.
  • Admission results announcement: December 8, 2026.
  • Enrollment period: December 18, 2026 to December 19, 2026.
