Applications are now open for scholarships at Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications for foreign students. The scholarship program aims to attract international students to study at CQUPT (Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications). The scholarships offer both fully funded and partial funding schemes and are open to non-Chinese citizens willing to study at Undergraduate, Master and PhD levels at the university.
For the 2025-2026 academic year, three types of scholarships are available: the Chinese Government Scholarship (Chinese University Program), the Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship and the CQUPT President Scholarship.

Successful applicants for the scholarship will have the following benefits depending on the type of scholarship they won:
Chinese Government Scholarship (Chinese University Program)
- Supporting Category: This scholarship only supports graduate students.
- Duration: This scholarship only supports Master’s students for no more than 3 academic years or doctoral students for no more than 4 academic years. The scholarship covers both major study and Chinese language/preparatory study.
- Scholarship Coverage: The Chinese University Program provides full and partial scholarships.
- Full scholarship: Tuition waiver, fee on-campus dormitory (twin room), comprehensive medical insurance and Stipend (Master’s students: CNY 3,000 per month; Doctoral students: CNY 3,500 per month);
- Partial scholarship: one or some items of the full scholarship.
Chongqing Municipal Government Mayor Scholarship
- Supporting Category: This scholarship only supports undergraduate and graduate students.
- Duration: the program supports graduate students for no more than 3 academic years or undergraduate students for no more than 4 academic years. This only covers the major study and does not include the Chinese Language/preparatory study.
- Scholarship Coverage:
- Doctoral students: 35,000RMB/year
- Master students: 30,000RMB/year
- bachelor’s degree Students: 25,000RMB/year.
CQUPT President Scholarship for International Students
- For Chinese Language students, undergraduate, Master’s students
- First class: master degree 10000 RMB, bachelor degree and Chinese language students 6000RMB;
- Second class: master degree 8000 RMB, bachelor degree and Chinese language students 4000RMB.
- Doctoral students
- Tuition Fee Waived;
- Free university dormitory (double Room);
- Stipend: 3500RMB/month.
Scholarships at Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications Eligibility
To qualify for a scholarship at Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications Scholarship, Applicants must have the following profile:
- Be a citizen of a country other than the People’s Republic of China, and be in good health both mentally and physically;
- Level of education and Age criteria: be a
- a high school graduate under the age of 25 when applying for the undergraduate programs;
- bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for the master programs;
- master’s degree holders under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs.
- Language Proficiency Requirement:
- English-taught programs: IELTS≧6.5 or TOEFL≧80 or equivalent or Native English speakers. Applicants who cannot provide the above-mentioned English test results will be required to attend the English test organized by CQUPT in May.
- Chinese-taught programs：HSK 4 or above. Applicants who have HSK 5 or above can apply for the major study directly, those who have HSK 4 can apply to take Chinese language training courses for one year, and then move on to their degree study after meeting the requirement; Applicants who can provide proof of studying at a previous institution where the teaching language is Chinese can apply for HSK test waiver.
- Applicants should not be holding any other scholarship in China.

Complete the online application procedure at CSC Online Application System for International Students (https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/). Please Choose Program category — Category B, then submit online the completed Application Form for the Chinese Government Scholarship and print a hard copy and sign it.
Step2: CQUPT Online Application
Complete the online application procedure at CQUPT International Student Service System: https://cqupt.17gz.org. Please choose your program: The Chinese Government Scholarship, and upload the required documents including the signed Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (step 1), and then submit an online application form.

Required Documents
- Passport size Photo;
- Diploma and certificate of highest education; Prospective diploma recipients must submit an official document issued by their current school to prove their current student status or expected graduation date. Documents in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
- Official academic transcripts (written in Chinese or English); Transcripts in languages other than Chinese or English must be attached with notarized Chinese or English translations.
- Personal statement; Including a study plan and must be in Chinese or English; no less than 800 words when applying for a master’s program; no less than 1500 words when applying for a doctoral program.
- A scanned copy of the Passport Information Page;
- The record of studies or work in China if you ever worked or studied in China;
- Two recommendation letters signed by a professor or an associate professor (in Chinese or English）;
- The physical examination form, written in English and must cover all of the items listed in the Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Incomplete forms or forms without the signature of the attending physician, or the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicant are considered as invalid. Please plan your physical examination schedule carefully as the results are valid for only 6 months.
- Non-criminal Record;
- Certificate of language proficiency. A copy of HSK results or IELTS or TOEFL results or Chinese Language or English study certificate (if available);
- Other documents (if available).
