Applications are now open for the Dalhousie University Scholarships to Study in Canada. Applications are made through the Harmonized Scholarship Process, which allows for current/prospective master’s and PhD students to be considered for several FGS-managed scholarships using a single application.

All required application materials for these university scholarships must be submitted via the Online Scholarship Platform. Late submissions may result in your application not being eligible for review. Only one Harmonized Scholarship application will be accepted per student per year.

Dalhousie University Scholarships Benefits

These Canada scholarships are awarded to deserving students and provide them with various benefits as shown below:

  1. Nova Scotia Graduate Scholarship:
  2. Killam Predoctoral Scholarships
    • Master’s (Level 1): Up to $42,000 per year for up to two years, plus $2,500 toward international tuition fees and relocation allowance (if applicable)
    • Doctoral (Level 2): Up to $42,000 per year for up to three years, plus relocation allowance if applicable
  3. James Robinson Johnston Graduate Entrance Scholarship for African Canadians
    • The Master’s scholarship is valued at $15,000 for one twelve-month academic year of full-time study. The Award is renewable, subject to an annual progress review (scholarship-class standing required). The Award can be held for a maximum of 24 months of full-time study.
    • The Doctoral scholarship is valued at $19,000 for a twelve-month academic year. The Award is renewable, subject to an annual progress review (scholarship-class standing required). An Award may be held for a maximum of 36 months of full-time study.
  4. Indigenous Graduate Scholarship: valued at $15,000/year, awarded annually to an Indigenous/Aboriginal student who has either recently started or is planning to pursue graduate studies (master’s or doctoral) at Dalhousie.
  5. Vitamin Scholarship
  6. Abdul Majid Bader Graduate Scholarship: The scholarship is valued at $40,000 for one twelve-month academic year of full-time study. This scholarship is for thesis-based master’s or doctoral study and is renewable, subject to an annual progress review.

Please note that fees are not waived and must be paid out of the award.

Dalhousie University Scholarships Eligibility

To benefit from one or more of these university scholarships, candidates must apply and get admitted to a graduate program. Please find below the common admission criteria.

Master’s degree

  • Four-year Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B average) in the last 60 credit hours of study
  • Degree granted by a university of recognized standing.

Doctor of Philosophy degree

  • First-class thesis Master’s degree or its equivalent ;
  • Minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (B average) in the last 60 credit hours of study ;
  • Degree granted by a university of recognized standing ;
  • Most candidates for admission to a doctoral program possess a Master’s Degree. Direct entry to some programs is possible for those with exceptional academic standing.
