Applications for the 2024-2025 Chinese Government Scholarship at Lanzhou University for international students are now open. The Chinese Government Scholarship (Chinese University Program) is established by the Ministry of Education of China, aiming to develop outstanding international talent and improve the perception of China’s higher education. This scholarship program to study in China is fully funded and open for full-time studies at master’s and Ph.D. degree levels at Lanzhou University.

Founded in 1909, Lanzhou University (LZU; 蘭州大學 – Lánzhōu Dàxué) is a major research university directly under the Ministry of Education in China, which is located in Lanzhou, Gansu, China. It provides programs for Undergraduate, graduate students on four campuses—three in Lanzhou city center and one in Yuzhong County, about 30 miles away from the main campus.

The university provides a wide range of disciplines, covering all 12 disciplines. Currently, a total of 13 disciplines including chemistry, physics, materials science, earth science, plant zoology, mathematics, engineering, biology and biochemistry, environment and ecology, clinical medicine, medicine and toxicology, agricultural science, and social science have entered the top 1% of ESI. Lanzhou University is among the Designated Chinese Universities that can host Chinese Government Scholarship holders.

Chinese Government Scholarship at Lanzhou University Benefits

Chinese Government Scholarship at Lanzhou University Eligibility

In order to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship at Lanzhou University, applicants must meet the following criteria.

  1. be a Non-Chinese citizen and in good health.
  2. Education background and age limit:
    • Doctoral degree studies applicants must be under the age of 40 and have a Master’s degree.
    • Master’s degree studies applicants must be under the age of 35 and have a bachelor’s degree.
  3. Have good grades and outstanding scientific research ability
  4. Not in possession of other scholarships
  5. Chinese taught programs require HSK Level4 180 or above (certificate is valid for 2 years). Applicants who have obtained a degree from Chinese universities using Chinese as the teaching language do not have to provide HSK certificate.
  6. English-taught programs require IELTS 5.5 or TOEFL 80 or other proof of their English proficiency, native English speakers do not require a certificate of English proficiency.

How to Apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship at Lanzhou University

Interested applicants who would like to apply for this Asia scholarship program, must follow steps below:

Step 1: CSC online registration

Create an account on the CSC online application system and choose program Type B. Agent No. of Lanzhou University is 10730. Please download the CSC application form after registration and take note of the CSC serial number. Please click here to download the instructions for Chinese Government scholarship information system.

Step 2: Lanzhou University online registration

Create an account, fill in and submit the application form via the Lanzhou University online application system. Upload all original documents scanned copy.

Note : Hard copies of application materials are no longer required. Fill in the correct email address and check your email frequently, Lanzhou University will contact you through email for future interviews.

Required Documents

  1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (from step 1).
  2. Passport Home Page. If the passport expires before September 2024, please apply for a new passport before submitting the application; Applicants applying from China are required to provide a photocopy of the currently valid visa page or residence permit page.
  3. Notarized version of diploma and degree (Bachelor’s and above) Senior students should provide certificates that can show their expected date of graduation. The original certificate must be presented when you come to register.
  4. Notarized version of applicant’s transcripts.
  5. Language qualification certificates. Photocopy of the transcripts (in English or Chinese).
  6. Pre-admission letter or supervisor acceptance letter. Applicants must provide a pre-admission letter or a letter of acceptance from their supervisors when submitting their documents online.
  7. A study plan proposal. A study plan written in Chinese or English shall contain more than 1,000 characters or words. The proposal of a doctoral student shall be signed by the applicant’s Chinese supervisor who provides the acceptance letter.
  8. Two recommendation letters in Chinese or English by different professors or associate professors.
  9. The photocopy of research achievements. Applicants may submit the abstracts or contents of the published research papers, award certificates, or other documents to prove their achievement and ability in academic research if any.
  10. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form. Original forms must be presented when you come to register. The medical examinations must cover all the items listed in the Foreigner’s Physical Examination Form. Incomplete records or those without the signature of the attending physician, the official stamp of the hospital, or a sealed photograph of the applicants are invalid. In view of the fact that the inspection result is valid for 6 months, the applicant shall determine the time for the medical examination.
  11. Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application. If the applicant is unable to provide this document, as a substitute, the applicant could sign a non-criminal record commitment. Please click here to download the form.
