National Taiwan University is accepting applications for the spring 2024. The spring intake (Graduate programs only) is only open to master and doctoral applicants while the fall intake is for all levels. The National Taiwan University Scholarships aims to attract outstanding candidates from all parts of the world to study in Taiwan and contribute to the university’s growth. Scholarships are for studies at undergraduate and graduate level, in different subject such as engineering, social sciences, natural sciences, and humanities, etc.

Scholarships financial support varies per scholarship type, including full or partial tuition coverage, living allowances, accommodation, and health insurance. Founded in 1928, the National Taiwan University (NTU; 國立臺灣大學) is a national public research university located in Taipei, Taiwan. Considered to be the most prestigious university in Taiwan, NTU is also internationally renowned. Infact, NTU ranked 69th worldwide in the QS World University Rankings 2024, 187th worldwide in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2023.

The National Taiwan University provides a wide range of academic disciplines (from humanities to science) that are available for studies at undergraduate, master’s, and PhD degree levels. The university consists of 11 colleges, 56 departments, 133 graduate institutes, about 60 research centers, and a school of professional education and continuing studies.

Selected candidates for these university scholarships will have the following benefits:

A – Undergraduate Students

Below is the list of scholarships that are open for undergraduate students. Taiwan Scholarship awardees should not apply for NTU scholarships:

I – NTU International Undergraduate Student Scholarship

Requirements: Open for all international degree students can apply.

Benefits: Full tuition waiver/reimbursement + monthly stipend of NTD 8,000 (USD 267) or; Full tuition waiver/reimbursement.

How to Apply: Applicants only need to check the scholarship application box in the online application system. No extra documents or procedures are required.

II – Scholarship for Overseas Students Admitted through Recommendation by High Schools

Requirements: Open for overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, or Macao students admitted to NTU through Recommendation by Overseas High Schools.

Benefits: Full tuition reimbursement + monthly stipend of NTD 8,000 (USD 267) or Full tuition reimbursement.

Maximum Duration: the designated years of study for the program.

How to Apply:Applicants applying to NTU through Recommendation by Overseas High Schools are automatically considered for this scholarship. No further documents or procedures are required.

III – College/Department Scholarship

Please refer to the Application Requirements and Admission Quotas for International Degree Students (2023/2024).

IV – NTU Scholarship for Central and Eastern European Countries (NTU-CEEC Scholarship)

Requirements: Open for students from Austria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia.

Benefits: Tuition waiver/reimbursement of up to NTD 65,000 (EUR 2,013) each semester; Monthly stipend of NTD 8,000 (EUR 256).

Maximum Duration: ≤ 4 years.

How to Apply: Eligible students are automatically considered for this scholarship. No further procedures are required.

V – NTU Scholarship for British Virgin Islands (NTU-BVI Scholarship)

Requirements: Open for students from the British Virgin Islands (BVI).

Benefits: Tuition waiver/reimbursement of up to NTD 65,000 (USD 2,167) each semester; Monthly stipend of NTD 8,000 (USD 267).

Maximum duration: 4 years.

How to Apply: Eligible students are automatically considered for this scholarship. No further procedures are required.

B – Graduate Students

Below is the list of scholarship that are opened for master’s and doctoral degree students:

I – Outstanding International Graduate Student Scholarship

Requirements : All students applying to the international graduate degree programs can apply (It’s recommended to contact your potential supervisor regarding scholarship possibilities).

Benefits: Tuition waiver/reimbursement of up to NTD 65,000 (USD 2,167) each semester; Monthly stipend.

II – NTU Doctoral Student Scholarship

Requirements: All students applying to the international doctoral programs can apply.

Benefits: Royal Palm: Monthly stipend of NTD 40,000 (USD 1,333); Diligent: Monthly stipend of NTD 20,000 (USD 667 ).

Maximum Duration : Royal Palm ≤ 4 years; Diligence ≤ 3 years.

How to Apply: Applicants only need to check the scholarship application box in the online application system. No extra documents or procedures are required. This scholarship is only available for September entry.

III – NTU Scholarship for Latin America and Caribbean Project

Requirements: This scholarship is open for students from Belize, Guatemala, Haiti, Paraguay, Saint Christopher and Nevis, Saint Lucia, or Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Benefits: Tuition waiver/reimbursement of up to NTD 65,000 (USD 2,167) each semester; Monthly stipend of NTD 8,000 (USD 267).

Maximum Duration: Master’s students ≤ 2 years; PhD students ≤ 4 years.

Quota: 30 per academic year.

How to Apply: Eligible students are automatically considered for this scholarship. No further procedures are required.

IV – NTU Loyalty Award for Overseas Degree Students

Requirements: Current NTU degree students that have been admitted into a graduate program as Overseas Chinese (including Hong Kong and Macau) or International Student upon graduation. Students admitted into a master’s program should have been in the top half of his/her class the semester before application.

Award:
Master’s Programs: NTD 100,000 (USD 3,333)
PhD Programs:
NTD 200,000 (USD 6,666).

How to Apply : All eligible students will automatically obtain this scholarship. No further procedures are required. Students may receive this award on top of any scholarships offered by NTU. Awardees are not restricted from receiving additional scholarships from the government or other organizations unless the scholarship specifies otherwise.

V – NTU Scholarship for Central and Eastern European Countries (NTU-CEEC Scholarship)

Maximum duration: Master’s Program: 2 years; Doctoral Program: 4 years.

Taiwan Government Scholarships

There are scholarships offered by different government agencies of Taiwan:

  • MOE (Ministry of Education) Taiwan Scholarship
  • MOFA (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) Taiwan Scholarship

National Taiwan University Scholarships Eligibility

To apply for this Asia scholarship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Hold citizenship of any country other than Taiwan.
  • Be healthy both physically and mentally.
  • Undergraduate degree program applicants should hold a high school diploma.
  • Master’s degree program applicants should hold a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Doctoral degree program applicants should have a Master’s degree.
