Applications are currently being received for the Citizens of the World Excellence Scholarship to study in Canada. This scholarship program is newly created, and its main goal is to attract the best students from all parts of the world for studies at Université Laval. The program hopes to help them become the leaders of tomorrow. The Excellence scholarship will be awarded to international students who have submitted or who will submit an application for admission for summer 2022, fall 2022, or winter 2023 semester.

This scholarship program to study in North America is available to current and future foreign students wishing to pursue an undergraduate degree, Master’s degree or a doctoral degree programs at Université Laval. The Excellence scholarship has two components: Bachelor’s degree and professional master’s programs (which provide $10,000 and $15,000) and the Research master’s with thesis and Ph.D. programs (which provide $20,000 and $30,000).

Founded in 1852, Université Laval (UL) is a public research university in Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. UL is one of Canada’s top research universities and the only one that holds 4 Canada Excellence Research Chairs. The University has around 4000 staff members who share their knowledge with more than 43,000 students, including 7,000 international students from 120 different countries. The university’s main language is French, and it has over 300,000 graduates worldwide.

Citizens of the World Excellence Scholarship Benefits

Applicants selected for the scholarship will receive the following benefits:

  1. Bachelor’s degree, professional master’s programs: the scholarship has a total value varying between $10,000 and $15,000.
  2. Research Master’s degree with thesis: This scholarship is worth a total of $20,000. A payment of $5,000 per session is planned, up to a maximum of four sessions, subject to respecting the criteria for faculty excellence and to pursuing full-time studies (or “deemed to be full-time”) at Laval University, in the program for which the scholarship was awarded, and upon recommendation of the research director and approval of the faculty.
  3. Doctorates: The scholarship is worth a total of $30,000. A payment of $5,000 per session is planned, up to a maximum of six sessions, subject to meeting the criteria for faculty excellence and to pursuing full-time studies (or “deemed to be full-time”) at Laval University, in the program for which the scholarship was awarded, upon recommendation of the research director and approval of the faculty.
  4. The above scholarships can be combined with any other scholarship program.

Citizens of the World Excellence Scholarship Eligibility

To be eligible for the scholarship, candidates must satisfy criteria below.

  1. Have submitted a complete admission file in a regular Bachelor’s, professional master’s, regular master’s program with dissertation or a doctorate degree program at Laval University for the summer 2022, fall 2022 or winter 2023 session.
  2. Maintain full-time (or “deemed full-time”) student status at Université Laval during the sessions in which they hold the scholarship.
  3. Pay additional foreign tuition fees (for regular bachelor’s, professional master’s).

Note: At the time of the scholarship offer, the candidate must have received a conditional or final offer of admission. Candidates on the waiting list cannot be selected.

The Excellence Stream of the Citizens of the World scholarship does not require you to fill out any form. Recipients are selected using their admission application. Therefore, those who would like to be considered for this scholarship program need to contact Université Laval to submit their admission application for summer 2022, fall 2022, or winter 2023 sessions.
