Application for the Chinese Government Scholarship Program (CSC Scholarship) for the 2024-2025 academic year at Harbin Institute of Technology is now open. The scholarship is open for international students who want to study a Master’s or Ph.D. degree at the Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT). Applicants need to submit their application materials according to school requirements. HIT will select the best applicants and recommend them to the China Scholarship Council (CSC).

Harbin Institute of Technology has the right to adjust the selected majors and study duration according to the applicant’s educational background and study plan. If the applicant’s conditions or application documents do not meet the provisions or requirements, the application shall be regarded as invalid and not be accepted. Applicants cannot change their professors, specialties, institutions, study duration or teaching language as specified in the Admission Notice after registration.

Chinese Government Scholarship at HIT Benefits

The Chinese Government Scholarship for International Students is a fully funded program that provides successful applicants with the followings:

  1. Tuition fees;

  3. 800 RMB per year for Comprehensive Medical Insurance;
  4. Monthly stipend is granted to the students at the following rates:

Chinese Government Scholarship at HIT Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria before applying for this government scholarship:

  1. Applicants must be citizens of a country other than the People’s Republic of Chinna.
  2. Be in good health both mentally and physically.
  3. Educational background requirements and age limit:
    • Applicants for master’s degree studies must have a bachelor’s degree and be under the age of 35;
    • Applicants for doctoral degree studies must have a master’s degree and be under the age of 40.
  4. Language proficiency certificate
    • Chinese-taught programs: HSK level 4 ≥ 210 scores (valid for two years)
    • English-taught programs: TOEFL ≥ 78 scores, IELTS ≥ 6.0 scores, or equivalent English proficiency certificate
  5. Proof of outstanding academic achievements, sports, art, cultural exchanges, public welfare activities, etc. (not mandatory).
  6. Consciously abide by the laws and regulations of the People’s Republic of China and the rules and regulations of the university.

Note: The scholarship cannot be combined with any other scholarships established by the Chinese Government and admission institutions during the same period.

How to Apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship at HIT

Interested candidates in this Asia scholarships program must follow the steps below, provide the following materials truly and correctly and pay the material assessment fee.

  • Step 2: Receive the application confirmation E-mail from the Office of International Students Admission of HIT.

Note: The admission officer will follow up on the application via email. Please check your email frequently. The average response time is 24 hours. However, the number of emails tends to spike around application deadlines and this increases the response time.

  1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship (in duplicate). The CSC Online Application System is available at: studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/. Scholarship type: B, code: 10213.   2. The Highest diploma. If applicants are university students, they should provide an original notarized pre-graduation certificate.
  3. Transcripts (from the undergraduate program onwards issued by the attending university’s academic affairs office, graduate school, or student management department).
  4. Two recommendation letters by professors or associate professors in English or Chinese.
  5. Passport copy (Valid for one year at least).
  6. Photocopy of Foreigner Physical Examination Form.
  7. Bank Receipt of Material Assessment Fee: 60 USD or 400 RMB (non-refundable). Please find the payment information on the official page. There are some Chinese universities that do not require any application fee. For more detail, please check this list.

  10. A written proposal of the study plan (more than 1,000 characters or words): The proposal of a doctoral degree applicant shall be approved and signed by the applicant’s Chinese supervisor. Please click here to download the template.
  11. Acceptance letter (Optional). Applicants are encouraged to contact professors prior to application and enclose an acceptance letter from supervisors of HIT.

Note : All documents must be in Chinese or English. Therefore, all documents in other languages must be attached with their notarized translation in Chinese or English. Uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic, and valid. Applicants should use a professional scanner for the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded documents.
