AERC Masters Scholarships for Africans, 2023-2024

Founded in 1988, the African Economic Research Consortium (AERC) aims to solve human resources in Africa through training by arguing that sustained development in sub-Saharan Africa requires well-trained, locally based professional economists. AERC agitates the provision of capacity building in economic policy in Francophone and Anglophone African countries through the provision of support in the areas of policy research and graduate training.

AERC Masters Scholarships Benefits

This African Economic Research Consortium scholarship provides support (not detailed in the call) to African graduate students registered in a Master’s degree program in Economics.

The 2023-2024 scholarship is open for applicants from Anglophone sub-Saharan African countries admitted into any of the following AERC Collaborative Masters Programme (CMAP) in Economics degree-awarding universities:

2. University of Botswana, Botswana
3. University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania
4. University of Cape Coast, Ghana
5. University of Ghana, Legon
6. University of Nairobi, Kenya
7. University of Mauritius
8. University of Namibia
9. University of Malawi
10. University of Zimbabwe
11. Makerere University Uganda.

AERC Masters Scholarships Eligibility

To qualify for this Africa scholarship, applicant must:

• Have applied and been admitted to any one of the listed CMAP universities;
• Have attained at least a Second Class Honours (Upper Division) or equivalent in Economics or related field from an accredited university; and
• Female and applicants from post-conflict and fragile states (especially the AERC Masters Bridge Programme alumni class of 2017 and 2018) are highly encouraged to apply.

How to Apply for the AERC Masters Scholarships

Eligible candidates who would like to apply for this scholarship opportunity must submit their applications for admission directly to the respective universities (application procedure can be obtained from the respective university’s website). Upon receipt of an admission letter from a specific university, applicants shall upload the following documents to the AERC scholarship portal.
