Applications are being received for the Link Foundation Ocean Engineering and Instrumentation Fellowship program. The program aims to FOSTER ocean engineering and ocean instrumentation research, ENHANCE both the theoretical and practical knowledge and applications of ocean engineering and ocean instrumentation research, and lastly DISSEMINATE the results of that research through lectures, seminars and publications. The scholarship aims to support candidates from all countries in the world to study at PhD degree level in any institution in Canada and the United States of America.

Funded by the Link Foundation, this fellowship provides generous financial support, empowering you to focus fully on your academic journey. The scholarship will provide $35,000 to each selected candidate and will only be granted to students undertaking a PhD degree program related to ocean engineering and ocean instrumentation at a Canadian or a U.S. institution. Whether you envision designing next-generation underwater vehicles, perfecting life-saving ocean monitoring systems, or unraveling the mysteries of the abyss, this fellowship may be able to help you make your dream a reality.

Ocean Engineering and Instrumentation Fellowship Benefits

This foundation fellowship program consists of a one-year fellowship of $35,000 for students working towards a PhD Degree. The award can be used towards the Fellow’s academic year and summer stipend.

Examples of charges NOT considered legitimate include:

  • Tuition – it is expected that the Fellow’s institution will waive or assume tuition charges.
  • Summer salary or other compensation for the research advisor.
  • Pooled or overhead costs, and salary for support staff (e.g. Secretarial or clerical help).

Ocean Engineering and Instrumentation Fellowship Eligibility

To apply for this fellowship, you must have the following profile:

  • The applicant must be working toward a PhD at an academic institution. (the applicant must have already been accepted into a PhD program.)
  • No limitations are placed on citizenship.
  • Fellowships are only tenable at U.S. and Canadian Universities.
  • Fellows must be enrolled on a full-time basis for the duration of the award.

How to Apply for the Ocean Engineering and Instrumentation Fellowship?

  • The project – Is it innovative? Is it technically sound?
  • The candidate – Important criteria include intellectual ability and achievement, evidence of creativity and initiative, and potential for a career that will impact ocean engineering and instrumentation.

Preference will be given to candidates who have a well-defined thesis direction, but who still have enough remaining time to work toward their PhD such that the receipt of a Link Foundation Fellowship could make a difference.
