The Chinese Government Scholarship EU program is accepting applications. The CSC EU program is fully funded and aims to provide support for citizens of European Union member countries willing to study as Undergraduate students, graduate students, general scholars, and senior scholars.

This Chinese Government Scholarship Program can be held for the normal duration of the candidate’s program at designated prestigious Chinese universities. The EU CSC scholarship program has been established by the Chinese Ministry of Education and intends to expand student exchanges between China and the European Union.

Applicants should be aware that undergraduate scholarship recipients must register for Chinese-taught credit courses. However, Graduate and non-degree scholarship students can register for either the Chinese-taught program or the English-taught program if applicable.

Chinese Government Scholarship EU program Benefits

The CSC scholarship – EU program to study in China will provide successful applicants with the following Benefits:

  • Tuition waiver;
  • Accommodation;
  • Stipend: Granted in accordance with the relevant standard;
  • Comprehensive Medical Insurance.

Chinese Government Scholarship EU program Eligibility

In order to apply for this scholarship to study in Asia, applicants must meet the following criteria.

  1. Be a citizen of an EU member country, and be in good health both mentally and physically.
  2. Education background and age limit. Candidates must be a:
    • high school graduates under the age of 25 when applying for undergraduate programs;
    • bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35 when applying for Master’s programs;
    • master’s degree holders under the age of 40 when applying for doctoral programs;
    • be under the age of 45 and have a high school diploma (or higher) when applying for the general scholar programs;
    • master’s degree holder or an associate professor (or above) under the age of 50 when applying for senior scholar programs.
  3. have acquired Chinese proficiency (only for Chinese-taught program applicants who do not wish to take the Chinese Language preparatory course):
    • HSK Level 3 when applying for Chinese-taught undergraduate or general scholar programs;
    • HSK Level 3 when applying for Chinese-taught senior scholar programs;
    • HSK Level 4 when applying for Chinese-taught master’s or doctoral programs;
    • Applicants for Chinese language study are exempt;

Note : In addition to the criteria above, applicants must also meet the admission requirements of their chosen universities in terms of academic ability, language proficiency and other relevant criteria. Beginning 2026/2027, undergraduate applicants must take the CSCA academic test before applying. Details: www.csca.cn.

CSC Scholarship Application instructions

Interested applicants who would like to apply for the Chinese Government Scholarship EU program must first contact target universities to request pre-admission or supervisor acceptance.

Create an account at https://studyinchina.csc.edu.cn/, login, choose Program Category Type A and use 00006 as Agency Number. Please fill out the form with the required information and submit it.

Note : All uploaded supporting documents must be clear, authentic and valid. Applicants are recommended to use a professional device to scan the relevant documents. Applicants shall bear the consequences caused by unclear or unidentifiable uploaded materials. All documents must be in Chinese or English. Therefore, all documents in other languages must be attached with their notarized translation in Chinese or English.

Required Documents

  1. Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship in Chinese or English (Obtained from step 1 above);
  2. Copy of Passport Home Page: Applicants are required to submit a clear scanned copy of information page of their ordinary passports. If the validity period of the currently held passport is less than 12 months (calculated from the expected start date of study), please renew the passport and use it to complete the scholarship application. An applicant who fails to apply for a passport due to objective reasons may submit valid documentation or documentary evidence that carries information about the full English name, gender, nationality and date of birth of the applicant upon the approval of the application receiving agency;
  3. Notarized highest diploma: Prospective diploma winners must submit official proof of student status by their current school;
  4. Academic transcripts;
  5. CSCA Score Report (Only for bachelor’s degree applicants). Bachelor’s degree applicants must register for and take the CSCA before the application deadline and obtain a valid Score Report. Please contact the target institution to inquire about and obtain the required test subjects for the applied major. Applicants intending to enroll in September 2026 are required to register for and take the CSCA on December 21, 2025, or January 25, 2026;
  6. A Study Plan or Research Proposal in Chinese or English. A minimum of 200 words for undergraduates, 500 words for non-degree students, and 800 words for postgraduates;
  7. Recommendation letters: Applicants for graduate programs or senior scholar programs must submit two letters of recommendation in Chinese or English from professors or associate professors;
  8. Language qualification certificates. Applicants for Chinese-taught programs must submit valid HSK reports in accordance with the corresponding Chinese proficiency requirements. Applicants for other language-taught programs shall provide relevant language proficiency certificates according to the universities’ requirements, like IELTS or TOFEL report;
  9. Non-criminal record report. The applicant shall submit a valid certificate of Non-Criminal Record issued by the local public security authority, usually issued within 6 months prior to the submission date of the application;
  10. Applicants under the age of 18 should submit valid documents of their legal guardians in China;
  11. Applicants planning to stay in China for more than 6 months must submit a photocopy of the Foreigner Physical Examination;
  12. To apply for art or design related majors, applicants could submit their own works through “Example of Art/Other Supporting Documents” in the online application system. Applicants could also provide such materials to the applied universities directly in other ways;
  13. Admission documents. To apply for master’s and doctoral degrees or as general and senior scholars, applicants shall provide admission documents issued by the applied universities. Admission documents include admission notice, pre-admission letter, an invitation from professors, etc. Applicants with admission documents will be prioritized;

  1. Hello, first, I was happy when I found this site but it states that it’s ust for students from EU member countries. And I’m from Ethiopia, I was hardly looking to study in China. I would be glad if there is similar opportunities or also include us from Africa.

  2. Hello, i have applied for a Master Degree starting on September 2021. I just graduated Bachelor Degree on 22 March 2021. In the application form i uploaded a Certificate certifying that i had to take just the final exam. Now that i have graduated, where should i send the Certificate of my Bachelor Degree? thank you.
